By accessing or using Chronicler's Codex ("the Service"), operated by Lyons Den Software ("we," "us," or "our"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service.
2. Description of Service
Chronicler's Codex is a creative worldbuilding application that allows users to create, organize, and manage fictional worlds, characters, plots, timelines, and related content. The Service includes optional AI-powered features for creative brainstorming and content suggestions. The Service is available on web, desktop, and mobile platforms.
3. Account Responsibilities
When you create an account, you are responsible for:
- Providing accurate and complete registration information.
- Maintaining the security of your account credentials.
- All activity that occurs under your account.
- Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.
4. User-Generated Content Ownership
You retain full ownership of all content you create using Chronicler's Codex, including but not limited to worlds, characters, locations, plot outlines, timelines, relationship maps, and any other creative material. We claim no intellectual property rights over your content.
5. License Grant to Operate Service
By uploading or creating content on Chronicler's Codex, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide license to host, store, display, and transmit your content solely for the purpose of operating and providing the Service to you. This license terminates when you delete your content or your account.
6. AI Features Disclaimer
Chronicler's Codex offers optional AI-powered features for creative assistance. Regarding these features:
- AI-generated content is provided as creative inspiration and suggestion only.
- AI outputs may be inaccurate, incomplete, or inconsistent. You are responsible for reviewing and editing any AI-generated content before use.
- We do not guarantee the quality, originality, or suitability of AI-generated content.
- You are solely responsible for your use of AI-generated content, including ensuring it does not infringe on any third-party rights.
- AI features may change, be updated, or become unavailable without prior notice.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Violate any applicable laws or regulations.
- Infringe upon the intellectual property rights of others.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' accounts or data.
- Distribute malware or interfere with the Service's operation.
- Use automated means (bots, scrapers) to access the Service without permission.
- Abuse AI features to generate harmful, illegal, or deceptive content.
8. Service Availability
Chronicler's Codex is currently in beta. The Service is provided on an "as-is" and "as-available" basis. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at all times. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time without prior notice. During the beta period, features may change significantly, and data loss may occur despite our best efforts to prevent it.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Lyons Den Software shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or business interruption, arising out of or related to your use of the Service, whether based on warranty, contract, tort, or any other legal theory.
Our total liability for any claims arising from or related to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or $100 USD, whichever is greater.
10. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause, and with or without notice. You may delete your account at any time through the application settings. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. We will make reasonable efforts to allow you to export your content before deletion, where feasible.
11. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated terms on this page and updating the "Effective Date" above. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms. If you do not agree with the updated terms, you should discontinue using the Service.
12. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved in the courts of competent jurisdiction.
